kalasan temple or Tara temple is built around end of 8 century or beginning 9 century on ancient temple building. a ancient inscription has made in the year 778 m found not far from temple and give explanation that temple builted in honour of bodhisattva woman, Tara.initially, only founded one temple in site that is kalasan temple , but after deeper dug founded more amount of supporter buildings around temple.
inscription declared the temple is made by two kings together to accord. that is king from dynasty syailendra and king from hindu mataram but not known the name at syailendra dynasty age .
the temple present approximately 2 km at westside from prambanan temple , beside highway between yogyakarta and solo. the temple as buddhism temple catagory. although not yet known what made simbol as statue at space principal temple , but this statue has tall more than 6 meters and made from bronze.
besides kalasan temple and another supporter building, there also three little temples outside principal building temple .
